Job Description
A postdoctoral position in the Department of Urology is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jose A. Karam, M. D., at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The laboratory environment is highly collaborative with translational research projects involving cell lines and animal models of cancer, molecular biology, experimental therapeutics, bioinformatics and signaling pathways. Our laboratory is focused on the study of kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma), and specifically on the validation of renal cell carcinoma cell lines, establishment of robust animal models derived from patients with renal cell carcinoma, as well as understanding mechanisms and biomarkers of response and resistance to novel therapies using genomic, proteomic, metabolomic, imaging, and microarray technologies. The successful applicant will have a unique opportunity to develop expertise in these research areas and provide major contributions in the field of kidney cancer research.
We seek a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. in molecular biology, cellular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or related fields. Must have experience in cell culture and aseptic technique. Experience with Western blotting, PCR, qPCR, cloning, microscopy, fluorescent microscopy, and mouse tumor injection/measurement/treatment is highly desirable. Preference will be given to applicants with less than 4 years of postdoctoral experience.
