英国牛津大学计算生物组学博士后岗位招聘

Applications are invited for a 3 year Postdoctoral Career Development Fellow to work at the heart of a cutting-edge multi-disciplinary initiative, the Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Centre (OPDC; http://opdc.medsci.ox.ac.uk/).

The Fellow will work across a highly collaborative project to identify and understand the genes and pathways that underlie Parkinson’s disease. Research will be centered on the laboratory of Professor Chris Ponting in the MRC Functional Genomics Unit and will take advantage of a growing set of phenotypic and genotypic data on the large OPDC patient cohort. In this, s/he will be supported by a vibrant computational genomics group with considerable experience in diverse genomic analyses.

The Fellow’s research program will seek to generate new hypotheses on the causes of PD. Novel leads will be investigated subsequently in partnership with OPDC clinicians, physiologists and cellular and molecular biologists who are experts in a diverse range of cutting-edge techniques, from transgenics to MRI to iPS cells.

Applicants must have a doctorate in a relevant area of research, such as computational biology, bioinformatics, statistical genetics or comparative genomics. Applicants should be able to script competently, and have experience of current bioinformatics tools, resources, and method development. Evidence of leading and managing successful research projects will also be welcome.
