Shandong University Helmholtz Institute of Biotechnology
The laboratory of Antiviral Research at Shandong University - Helmholtz Institute of Biotechnology (SHIB), located in Qingdao and affiliated with the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Technology, invites applications for Post-Doc on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
SHIB is dedicated to the research and development of novel anti-invectives to face this challenge by creating synergies between the founding partners in Germany and China and by identifying and developing novel avenues of anti-infective therapy.
The laboratory of Antiviral Research at SHIB, directed by Prof Ralf Altmeyer, is seeking talented, dynamic and highly motivated candidates to establish a new research group that is dedicated to target identification and drug development for pediatric viral infections, in particular Enterovirus 71 (hand Foot and Mouth Disease) Respiratory Syncytial Virus (Bronchiolitis). The successful candidates should have a solid experience in the fields of molecular and cellular biology and/or virology, including technological expertise in cell and virus culture, nucleic acid and immune detection techniques. The primary selection criterion will be scientific excellence and the perceived ability to augment the intellectual creativity, skills, and innovation potential of SHIB but we are particularly interested in candidates seeking international experience, applying innovative approaches to understand the cell biology of virus-host interactions and to translate novel discoveries to drug candidates for clinical development.
