本人于1978 年毕业于天津医科大学医疗系。随后在天津市肿瘤医院化疗及免疫治疗科任 住院医师。于1980 年考入天津医科大学第二医院泌尿外科攻读泌尿外科专家马腾骧教授硕士研究生。 1985 年由天津医科大学第二医院泌尿外科到美国西北大学进修肿瘤生物治疗专业。又于 1987 年考入美国  University of Nebraska Medical Center (内布拉斯加大学医学院) 攻读肿瘤药物治疗学博士学位。毕业后于1991 年至1993 年在美国堪萨斯大学医学中心肿瘤化疗及生物治疗科做博士后研究。1993 年至1997 年在美国哈佛大学医学院 Dana-Farber 肿瘤研究所任高级临床研究员， 负责新抗癌药物的临床试验治疗研究。 自 1997 年至 2000 年任职美国内布拉斯加大学医学院肿瘤科主治医师，副教授， 博士后导师。自2000 年至今在美国 M.D. Anderson 肿瘤医院及研究所任副主任医师、副教授、博士后导师。

 

本人二十年来一直从事癌症药物治疗及新抗癌药物的临床治疗研究。并与美国及加拿大制药厂合作研制出三种新类型抗癌药物, 其中塔西瓦 (TARCEVA) 已经被美国食品药物管理局批准上市用于治疗肺癌; 另外两种 (C424-Maytansinoid 治疗结肠癌及维力金 治疗胰腺癌) 目前正在美国及加拿大进行临床试验治疗。本人曾在十几次国际癌症会议上发表演讲， 在国内外医学杂志上发表过三十余篇医学论文及译文，并且在国内出版了三本有关癌症防治的专著。本人在癌症治疗方面的成就曾被国内外主要 媒体包括美联社、 美国有线广播网(CNN)、美国国家广播公司 (NBC)、哥伦比亚广播公司 (CBS)、 中国新华社、人民日报、健康报、中国科技部做过报导。
