Anthony Nolan was the first unrelated donor registry in the world, and to this day remains at the forefront of this field, both in research and in the quality of service it provides to transplant centres worldwide, whilst striving to maintain the highest standards in donor advocacy and safety.
Anthony Nolan would like to invite applications for an exciting new postdoctoral research scientist post in the immunotherapy group. The immunotherapy group combines expertise in stem cell biology and cellular immunology, and works in close relationship with the cord blood program. Its research strategy is to characterise cord blood immune cells by comparing their therapeutic abilities with their adult counterparts in order to understand their unique properties and improve the outcome of haematopoietic stem transplantation by focusing on improving engraftment and immune reconstitution and targeting the main issues encountered after transplantation: post-transplant viral infections and graft versus host disease.
The applicant will have a PhD in immunology and have demonstrable experience in cell culture of lymphocytes, flow cytometry and in establishing lymphocyte functional assays. In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to be actively involved in supervising and training undergraduate, MSc and PhD students, as required, as well as clinical fellows and graduate trainees within the department.
The post will be based at the Anthony Nolan Research Institute on Fleet road in London (Royal Free campus) and is a fixed term contract of 3 years.
