英国国家医学研究所招聘博士后
Post-Doctoral Position IRC78471
MRC National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR)
Neurophysiology of Behaviour
A Postdoctoral Scientist position is available in the area of Neurophysiology of Behaviour (lab of Dr. Andreas Schaefer).
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary project broadly aimed to experimentally determine the functional role of interneurons in information processing, focusing on the mouse olfactory system and using pharmacological, optogenetic and genetic tools while performing 2p imaging and whole-cell physiological experiments. The project will address the following key questions in the field: How do different inhibitory networks shape information flow? What is their impact on odour identification and discrimination behaviour?
The lab employs a multidisciplinary approach, using, among others, electrophysiology, imaging, modeling and behavioural approaches in transgenic mouse models, to understand information processing in sensory circuits.

You should have a PhD in Neuroscience or a closely related field (or be in the final stages of completion). A background in in vivo electrophysiology, basic knowledge of neural circuits and sensory neuroscience as well as in depth experience in programming (Matlab, Labview or related) and complex data analysis are essential. Experience with rodent olfaction, LFP recordings whole-cell recordings and 2p imaging techniques, viral techniques and behavioural neuroscience are desirable but not essential.
Informal enquiries can be addressed to: Dr. Andreas Schaefer (email: Andreas.Schaefer@mpimf-heidelberg.mpg.de).
Salary is from £27,513 per annum inclusive of Location Allowance. MRC final salary Pension Scheme is available.
