A Post-Doctoral Scientist position is currently available at Dr. Thomas Mitchell’s lab in the Department of Plant Pathology at The Ohio State University at Columbus, Ohio. This position is for an international grant that aims to conduct genome comparison analysis and functional genomic studies on isolates of the rice blast fungus, Magnaporthe oryzae, collected from Africa. Job duties include conducting genome sequencing on next-generation sequencing platforms, performing genome comparison analysis, Identification of SNPs, functional gene screens and laboratory management. This is a 4-year, multi faceted project.
The ideal candidate must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in molecular genetics, plant pathology, bioinformatics, or other related fields. Required experience includes next-generation sequencing data analysis and wet lab skills such as cloning and transformation of fungi or plants. Successful candidates should also have a strong publication records and good technical writing in English.
